How to prepare for a Product Hunt launch

Start weeks early: use Product Hunt under your own name, write a tagline under 60 characters, build a gallery and a short demo video, draft the maker comment, and schedule the launch so you can tell your community the date. Ask people for feedback and support, never for upvotes, and plan who answers comments all day.

What else do people ask

Do I need a hunter

No. Product Hunt says you can and should hunt your own product. Littlebird and Upstream were hunted by Chris Messina and Garry Tan, but you can launch without a hunter.

How do I tell people about my launch without breaking the rules

Tell your community the date, share the link on launch day and ask for feedback or support. Product Hunt does not allow asking for upvotes or running anything that requires them.

Should I offer a discount

Product Hunt suggests a discount just for its visitors. Brila gave away 100 promo codes, and Upstream offered a free month of Pro with PH26.
