Google Ads tests an Apple Messages button on search ads

Google is testing a bright green Apple Messages button on sponsored search results, spotted by Anthony Higman on X. Tapping it opens Apple Messages with a prefilled message asking to speak with someone. Higman said the option does not appear in his own accounts, and message assets are still in beta. Search Engine Roundtable says this looks different from Apple Messages for Business.

Our take

A one tap text from a search ad is the shortest path to a lead for local services, legal and home repair advertisers. If you already use message assets, make sure someone answers texts within minutes during ad hours, because a fast reply wins the job. Ask your Google rep whether your account can join the beta and track messages as a conversion from day one.
