Questions
What makes a good headline
A good headline is clear before it is clever. It names who it is for or what they get, uses a specific detail like a number or time, and stays short enough to read in one glance, usually 5 to 12 words.
How does the headline analyzer score headlines
It runs nine rules in your browser: length, a specific number, strong words, vague hype words, reader focus, a known format, caps, punctuation and plain words. Each rule has a weight and the score is the share of points earned.
Is this headline analyzer free
Yes. It is free with no signup and no limits. No. There is no login and nothing is saved. Everything runs in your browser.
Does it work for LinkedIn and X hooks
Yes. The same rules apply to the first line of a post, a blog title, an ad headline or an email subject. For subject lines use the email subject line tester, which also checks inbox length and spam words.
Should I always add a number
Only if it is true. A real number makes a headline specific. A made up number breaks trust, so the rewrites leave a placeholder for you to fill in.
