Google can now show up to four ads in a single AI Mode response, based on a screenshot Sachin Patel shared. Search Engine Roundtable says AI Mode answers usually carried one or two ads, sometimes three. Google said on its earnings call that it will show more ads, more often, in AI Mode, and multiturn ads on follow-up queries are coming in the US.
Our take
More paid slots inside AI answers is the clear direction, and it will not reverse. If your Search campaigns can serve in AI Mode, check whether that traffic converts as well as classic results before you raise budgets for the holidays. On the organic side, assume the top of an AI answer is turning into paid space and put your effort into being the source the answer cites.
