Write the meat first then the trailer

Justin Welsh broke down how he writes a LinkedIn post: content first, then a hook, then a one line mantra.

Updated · By Blake Emal

On Indie Hackers, Justin Welsh shows one post: four ideas as the meat, a three line trailer ending in Here are 4 simple ideas before the see more fold, and a closing mantra, Help is a digital currency. He says that post was seen 72,477 times.

Writing the value first means the hook promises something that is already there.

  1. Write the useful part first
  2. Write a first line that breaks the scroll
  3. End the trailer on a promise before see more
  4. Summarize in a few lines
  5. Close with a line people will repeat
