Google Ads lets Manual CPC campaigns bid only for new customers

Google Ads is showing a setting that lets a Manual CPC campaign limit delivery to new customers without switching to Smart Bidding, according to a November 8 report by PPC Land. Anthony Higman of ADSQUIRE shared the interface on November 4, and PPC News Feed reported it on November 7. The dialog lets a Manual CPC campaign bid only for new customers or add new customer reporting with no bid change. Google warns that existing customers may see the ads, and its help page still lists only four Smart Bidding strategies for New Customer Only.

Our take

Open a Manual CPC test campaign and look for the customer acquisition dialog before you trust a slide deck. Higman says you still need a customer list to define who counts as new, and Google admits regulars can slip through. Upload a fresh Customer Match list, set the new customer only limit, and compare cost per first purchase against a control that still reaches everyone. If the option is missing in your account, leave the bid strategy alone until Google documents the change.
