Pinterest can close accounts that abuse its AI tools from November 12

Pinterest will add its GenAI Acceptable Use Guidelines to the Terms of Service on November 12 2026, so breaking any of the 17 banned uses of its generative AI tools becomes a breach of the user contract. The updated guidelines name three penalties: loss of access to the AI features, account suspension or account termination. The same day, a revised Privacy Policy says Pins train Pinterest’s generative AI models whenever they were posted. Users outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK treat acceptance of the Terms as consent to that processing.

Our take

If your team uses Canvas backgrounds, auto collages or Pinterest Assistant to make ads, read the 17 bans before November 12 and write a short rule for prompts. Jailbreaking, scraping, impersonation and misleading content can now close the whole account. Review your Pin archive too, since older Pins now sit inside the generative training language for users outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Keep a copy of every prompt and output you send through those tools, because Pinterest says human reviewers may read them and names no opt out.
